Harp music some of the most beautiful music that you will hear, and we have been lucky enough to host this annual event. This Harp Contest was brought to our festival thanks to one of our committee members, Elizabeth Dickerson. Liz's forethought brought this program to our festival where we offer the opportunity to listen to not only the Harpists compete but also a Harp Circle in which the Harpists will play various songs for the public. They will answer any questions pertaining to this beautiful instrument as well. If anyone has any questions pertaining to the harp, if you want to learn to play the harp, etc. Please contact Liz at magistradickerson@gmail.com.
Anyone competing must be a member of the SHSA or must join at the games ($20.00 fee)
CT’s own Haley Hewitt, former National Scottish Harp Champion and international performer will judge our contest this year. Haley will be hosting workshops and an open-to-the-public harp circle, and she’ll perform a judge’s concert in the afternoon. Come and bring your curiosity, as Haley performs and teaches all things harp (you can also catch Haley at haleyhewitt.com for a preview)
The harp tent is open to players of all levels and ages. Bring your harp and join the workshop and circle! If you don’t have a harp, come try to play at the harp petting zoo, which is graciously sponsored by Clan Currie.

The Springfield Kiltie Band, established in 1917 is one of the longest running pipe bands in U.S. history. The purpose of the band is to engage in activities and programs as will improve all aspects of bagpipe music as well as piping and drumming with respect to both pipe band and individual playing. Our goal is to foster greater public appreciation and understanding of piping and drumming, and to create and promote bonds of fellowship and camaraderie among pipers and drummers. To achieve both our goal and purpose, the band offers free instruction in piping and drumming to anyone who joins the band.
St. Edmunds Pipe Band;
Pipe Major is Baird Welch- Collins .
The Mystic Pipes and Drums was founded in May 2019 by experienced
local musicians who wanted to be a competition band that would also march in parades and local events. Father Tom Hoar became acquainted with the
band President Dana Oviatt
and began taking bagpipe lessons as well as introducing some of the young men in their recovery program to the pipes and drums.
Early in the Pandemic, needing a place to practice and march, the band began to rehearse outside at Enders Island and a new tradition was born. The group joined forces with Enders Island, and was renamed the
St. Edmund's Pipes and Drums.
We offer multiple indoor and outdoor training areas and practice Wed nights from 6 to 8:30 PM. Part of our "on staff" drum instructors are Wes Cole and Ryan Jones, offering only the best "We care about your piping and drumming success"
